Disclaimer and editorial policy
What you should and should not rely on this site for, and how its written content is produced.
The short version
NagaTranslate is a free, independent project run by one person who is not a native speaker of Nagamese, Ao (Chungli) or Sema (Sümi). It makes no claim to authoritative knowledge of these languages.
- Everything on this site may contain errors — machine translations, phrasebook entries, example sentences, and the grammar descriptions in the written guides alike.
- Nothing here is independently audited. Phrase data is contributed by speakers, but contributions are not individually checked before they are used.
- Spelling is unstandardised in all three languages, and usage varies by region, community and generation. A form that is right in one village may be wrong in the next.
- No warranty is given as to accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose, and no liability is accepted for any loss arising from reliance on this site — see the terms of use.
- Corrections are welcome and actively wanted. If something here is wrong, tell us or email us and it will be fixed.
Translation accuracy
Translations on this site are produced by automated systems and can be wrong. This is not boilerplate. Nagamese, Ao (Chungli) and Sema (Sümi) are low-resource languages with very little digital text, and error rates are substantially higher than for languages such as French or Spanish.
Specific known weaknesses — long sentences, technical vocabulary, Ao tone, formality register, non-standard dialects and idiom — are documented in how it works.
Do not use this site for: medical instructions, legal documents, contracts, safety notices, official correspondence, permanent inscriptions or tattoos. For anything with consequences, use a qualified human translator.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site constitutes legal, medical, financial or travel advice. Travel information — including anything said about permits, routes or festival arrangements — may be out of date, and official sources should be checked before you rely on it.
How the guides are written
The written guides on this site are researched and written by a named human author, credited at the top of every page along with the date it was last updated.
- Example sentences are drawn from NagaTranslate's community phrase set — pairs contributed and reviewed by speakers — not invented for the article.
- Grammar rules come from published reference material, listed in the sources section at the bottom of each guide, and from corrections supplied by speakers.
- Factual claims about history, geography and demography are attributed to the sources listed on each page.
- Uncertainty is stated. Where a form varies, or where a claim is contested, the guide says so rather than picking one and presenting it as settled.
The author is not a native speaker of any of the three languages covered. That is stated plainly on the about page, and it is the reason speaker corrections are treated as authoritative over any other source.
Use of AI in content
Translator output and NagaChat replies are machine-generated and labelled as such in the interface. The written guides are human-authored. A full breakdown of where AI is and is not involved is in how it works.
Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, we want to fix it.
- For a translation error, use the Improve button or the contribute form. The correction enters the dataset immediately.
- For an error in a written guide, email hello@mynimalistic.com with the page URL and what is wrong.
Substantive corrections to a guide are reflected in the "Updated" date at the top of that page.
Advertising and independence
This site carries advertising through Google AdSense to cover its running costs. Advertising is separate from content: no guide is sponsored, no advertiser has any input into what is published, and nothing on this site is written in exchange for payment.
Where ad units appear, they are visually distinct from editorial content. Details of the cookies involved are in the privacy policy.
